Use active recall relentlessly
Blurting, flashcards and self-quizzing beat re-reading every time. Cover the page, write everything you remember about a topic, then check and fill gaps.
Rehearse the essay question
AQA's 25-mark essay rewards structured, linked content across multiple topics. Plan and write two essays a week from mock season onwards.
Nail practical and data questions
- Know every required practical: variables, controls, expected results.
- Practise interpreting unfamiliar graphs and data tables.
- Learn the maths content: standard deviation, chi-squared, Hardy-Weinberg.
Finish with timed past papers
Time is tight in Biology papers. Practise finishing on time before you worry about perfect answers — and mark honestly against the scheme.
