Common questions

How is an A Level grade worked out?

Your raw marks are converted to a uniform scale and totalled across all papers, then compared with the grade boundaries the board publishes for that series. The percentage method used here is a close, practical approximation for revision targets.

What percentage is an A* at A Level Maths?

It varies by year and board. An A* has commonly sat around 80% of the total marks in recent A Level Maths series, but the published boundary for your series is the only accurate figure.

How many marks do I need to move up a grade?

Do AS results count towards the A Level grade?

For reformed linear A Levels in England, AS is a separate qualification and does not count towards the A Level grade. Check your specification if you are following a modular or international route.
