The Hardest Topics in A Level Physics (and How to Beat Them)

Some A Level Physics topics eat marks year after year. Here's a targeted plan for the ones students find hardest.

Examiners' reports say the same thing every year: a handful of A Level Physics topics account for a disproportionate share of dropped marks. Fix these and you'll usually jump a grade band.

Circular motion and gravitational fields

Students routinely confuse centripetal force, centripetal acceleration and the direction of velocity. Drill the definitions, then practise satellite-motion problems until the derivations feel automatic.

Capacitors and exponential decay

Time constants and log-linear graphs punish anyone who skims. Learn the standard forms, practise linearising exponentials, and expect a full 6-marker on discharging in the exam.

Particle physics and quantum
