Edexcel International A Level Maths past papers (IAL)

Edexcel International A Level Mathematics is modular. International AS is built from Pure Mathematics P1 and P2 plus one applied unit; the full International A Level adds Pure Mathematics P3 and P4 plus a second applied unit, usually chosen from Statistics (S1, S2), Mechanics (M1, M2) or Decision Mathematics. Every unit is a separate exam with its own past papers, which makes unit-level practice far more efficient than working through whole years at random.

The statistics, mechanics or decision content of the unit you are entered for.

  • The qualification is modular: each unit is examined separately and past papers exist per unit.
  • International AS is made from a subset of the units; the full International A Level uses the complete set.
  • A calculator is permitted in the Edexcel IAL Mathematics units, so accuracy and efficient calculator use both matter.

How to revise with past papers

  1. 1. Revise unit by unit

    Because each unit is a separate exam, target the specific unit you sit next rather than mixing content from all four Pure units.

  2. 2. Use the Edexcel formula booklet from day one

    Learn what is given and what you must memorise, so exam time is not lost hunting for a formula that is already printed.

  3. 3. Mark to the scheme, unit by unit

    IAL mark schemes are generous with method marks; compare each line of your working so you learn where M and A marks sit.

  4. 4. Re-drill dropped marks as topic sets

    Turn every lost mark into a short topic practice set and re-attempt a similar question a week later.
