Paper structure

• Each paper is worth a third of the qualification, so applied content cannot be neglected.
• Because Pure appears on all three papers, Pure fluency has roughly twice the marks weighting of either applied strand.

How to revise with past papers

1. 1. Drill Pure by strand first

   Algebra and functions, calculus, trigonometry, sequences and vectors each deserve separate blocks before you mix them in a timed paper.

2. 2. Practise applied sections in isolation

   Attempt the Mechanics and Statistics sections as standalone timed blocks before sitting the full two-hour paper.

3. 3. Use your calculator's distribution functions

   Binomial and normal calculations are expected to be done on the calculator; knowing the keystrokes removes minutes of avoidable work.

4. 4. Mark to the scheme, then re-drill

   Method marks reward stated assumptions, defined variables and clear reasoning — check your working line by line against the scheme.
