Children's Privacy Notice

Effective 21 August 2026 · SelexIQ Education FZE LLC (trading as MathsGradeUp)

MathsGradeUp is used by students in Years 7–13, which can include children under 13. This notice explains, in plain language, what we collect from young users, the protections that apply by default, and what parents and guardians can do.

Why this notice exists

Because our service is likely to be accessed by children, we design it to the standards expected of children's online services. The UK ICO's Children's Code applies to online services likely to be accessed by children, and users in the United States may also bring COPPA considerations, as explained by the US Federal Trade Commission.

In simple words, for students

  • We keep your name, email, year group, subjects and the work you do so we can mark it and show your progress.
  • Your work and your results are private. Only you, a parent or tutor you are linked to, and a small number of our staff who need to fix problems can see them.
  • We never sell your information and we never use it to show you adverts.
  • You can ask us to delete your account and your work at any time.
  • Do not put your address, phone number, photos of yourself or anyone else's personal details into questions, answers or messages.

What we collect from a child's account

The same limited data described in our Privacy Policy: account details, education profile, learning data, links to a parent or tutor, and technical data needed for security. We apply data minimisation strictly for young users — we do not ask for a home address, date of birth beyond the year group needed to serve the right curriculum, a phone number or a profile photograph.

Privacy Policy

Protections applied by default

  • Profiles and learning records are private; there is no public profile and no public leaderboard identifying a child.
  • Contact is restricted: a student can only exchange messages with a parent, tutor or teacher verifiably linked to them through our records. There is no open student-to-student messaging and no stranger contact.
  • No behavioural advertising, no ad networks, no selling or sharing of data with data brokers.
  • No nudge techniques designed to extend time on the Platform or to encourage a child to lower a privacy setting.
  • Geolocation is not tracked; approximate country from IP is used only for security and to show the right curriculum.
  • Automated learning support is confined to teaching a topic; it does not profile a child for any purpose outside their study.

Age and consent

Where a child is below the digital-consent age in their country, an account must be created or approved by a parent, guardian, school or tutor, as set out in our Parent/Guardian Consent Policy. If we learn that a child below that age has registered without the required consent, we suspend the account, seek consent and delete the data if consent is not provided.

Parent/Guardian Consent Policy

Parents' and guardians' rights

Email support@mathsgradeup.com from the address linked to the child's account, or from an address we can verify against our relationship records. We verify the relationship before disclosing anything about a child.

  • See what data we hold about your child.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete the account and the data we are not legally required to keep.
  • Withdraw consent, which ends the account.
  • Object to a particular use of the data.

Reporting a concern

If you are worried about a child's safety on the Platform, contact support@mathsgradeup.com immediately and mark the message urgent. Our Safeguarding and Online Safety Policy explains how we handle reports.
