Parent/Guardian Consent Policy

When consent is required

Digital-consent ages differ by country — commonly 13 in the United Kingdom and the United States, and between 13 and 16 across the EEA. Where a student is below the applicable age, a parent or guardian (or a school or tutor acting under its own lawful authority) must provide consent before an account is used.

Students at or above the applicable age may hold their own account. We still strongly recommend that a parent, guardian or tutor is linked, because supervised study is the way the Platform is designed to be used.

What consent covers

Consent does not cover marketing to a child, and we do not send marketing to accounts identified as belonging to a child.

• Creation and operation of the student account.
• Collection and processing of the education and learning data described in the Privacy Policy.
• Automated learning support and estimated mark-scheme feedback on submitted work.
• Sharing progress data with the consenting parent, guardian, tutor or school, and with any tutor verifiably assigned to the student.
• Service emails necessary to run the account, such as verification, password reset and assignment notifications.

How we verify consent

• The adult confirms consent from a working email address, verified by a one-time code sent to that address.
• The parent–student or tutor–student link is created only through our in-app request-and-approval flow, or through a code issued to the adult; it cannot be self-declared.
• Where a school or tuition centre provisions accounts, it confirms in its agreement with us that it has obtained the necessary consent or is acting under another lawful basis, and it remains responsible for that.
• We keep a record of who gave consent, from which address and when, as evidence that consent was obtained.

Rights of the consenting adult

A verified parent or guardian may view the linked student's progress data, request a copy of the student's personal data, ask for corrections, request deletion, and withdraw consent. Requests are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

Withdrawing consent

Email support@mathsgradeup.com from the verified address. We will confirm the withdrawal, close the student account and delete personal data in line with our Data Deletion and Retention Policy. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out lawfully before it, and it does not remove records we must keep for legal, accounting or safeguarding reasons.

Disputes between adults

Where two adults disagree about a child's account, we act on the instruction of the person who holds parental responsibility and can evidence it. Until that is resolved we may restrict access to the account to protect the child.

Changes to this document

We review this document periodically and update it when the Platform, the law or our practices change. The effective date at the top of the page always shows the current version. Material changes affecting your rights are notified by email or by an in-app notice before they take effect. Continuing to use the Platform after that date means you accept the updated version.

We aim to acknowledge every written request within 5 working days and to resolve it within 30 days, extending only where a request is complex and we tell you why.
