Cookie Policy

Effective 21 August 2026 · SelexIQ Education FZE LLC (trading as MathsGradeUp)

This policy explains the cookies and similar storage technologies used on MathsGradeUp, why we use them and how you can control them.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We also use closely related technologies — local storage and session storage — which work in a similar way. In this policy "cookies" covers all of them.

Categories we use

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not allow third parties to use cookies on the Platform to build advertising profiles of students.

  • Strictly necessary: keep you signed in, secure your session, remember your role and selected subject, protect forms against abuse, and remember cookie choices. The Platform cannot function without these, so they are set without consent.
  • Functional: remember preferences such as theme, calculator mode, last-opened paper and dashboard layout. Losing these degrades the experience but not core access.
  • Analytics and performance: help us understand which pages and features are used, and diagnose errors, so we can improve the service. Where required by local law these are set only after you consent.
  • Error monitoring: capture technical diagnostics when something breaks so we can fix it.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by the providers that make the Platform work — our hosting and authentication provider, our error-monitoring provider and, where you sign in with a third-party account, that provider. They act on our instructions for the purposes described above.

How long cookies last

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a set period — typically from a few days for preferences up to twelve months for authentication and analytics identifiers — or until you delete them.

Managing cookies

Where a consent banner is shown, you can accept or reject non-essential categories and change your choice at any time from the same control. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or saving work.

Children and cookies

Consistent with the ICO's Children's Code, we do not use non-essential profiling cookies on accounts we identify as belonging to a child, and default settings for those accounts are the most privacy-protective ones.
